PROBLEM
Three 1200mm diameter, 4000kW Chiller units at a major Australian airport required repairs due to erosion damage sustained over their service life.
In particular, the chiller face plates and end covers were severely affected and required restoration in order to ensure reliable operation.

APPLICATION
All repairs were completed on-site by the Rezitech team, who efficiently mobilised the necessary equipment, prepared the site, and carried out abrasive blasting of the chiller units.
After abrasive blasting, eroded areas were restored using Belzona 1111 (Super Metal).
This was followed by the application of Belzona 1321, a 2-part ceramic-filled epoxy coating designed to provide erosion and corrosion resistance for metal surfaces.

OUTCOME
All works were successfully completed, leading to ongoing HVAC, and chiller repair and coating work being awarded to the Rezitech Services team.

Products
Belzona 1111 (Super Metal)
A 2-part repair composite for metal repair and resurfacing based on solvent-free epoxy resin reinforced with silicon steel alloy. This repair material will not corrode and resists a wide range of chemicals. It is easy to mix and apply without the need of specialist tools and can be machined using conventional tools.
Belzona 1321 (Ceramic S-Metal)
A 2-part ceramic filled epoxy coating designed to provide erosion and corrosion resistance of metal surfaces. This solvent-free epoxy coating has outstanding chemical resistance and will bond to almost any rigid surface. Due to its high compressive strength it can be also used to create a perfect shim. This material is easy to mix and apply without the need for specialist tools and it cures at room temperature eliminating the need for hot work.
